Privacy Policy
Last updated September 30, 2026
This notice describes how Before You Agree (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Before You Agree browser extension (the “Extension”).
The Extension helps you understand a website’s privacy policy. On sign-up, sign-in, and legal-document pages, it can show a short summary. If you ask it to analyze a policy, it reads that page and our service produces a plain-language analysis. We do not create accounts, and we do not tie that analysis to you.
Questions? Contact us at andrey.novichkov@gmail.com. If you do not agree with this notice, do not use the Extension.
SUMMARY
- We do not ask for your name, email address, or account.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
- The only information we store on our servers about a site is stored by that site’s web address. It is not stored under your name, device, or any other identifier that points back to you.
- A copy of the most recent scan and analysis also stays in the Extension on your device.
1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Information that stays on your device
The Extension stores the following in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device. We do not receive it as a profile of you.
- Whether the Extension is turned on.
- The sites where you chose to hide the popup.
- The most recent page scan, including that page’s address and the legal links found there.
- The most recent legal page we extracted, including its text, title, and addresses.
- The most recent analysis result, or the error if analysis failed.
You can remove this by uninstalling the Extension or clearing its local storage in your browser.
Website information we store when an analysis is created
Two things can be sent to our service:
- When the popup appears, we send the address of the privacy policy (or of the current page, if that page is the legal document) to check whether an analysis for that address already exists. We send the address only. We do not send your name or a user identifier.
- When you choose to analyze a policy and we do not already have an analysis for that address, we extract the text of that legal page and send three things: the page address, the extracted text, and the page title. Our service uses that text to generate the plain-language analysis.
We store that website text and the analysis we generate from it on our servers, indexed by the page address, so the same public page does not have to be analyzed again. We do not attach a user id, account, email address, device id, or any other identifier that associates that record with you. Because the record is kept by website address, we may show the same analysis to someone else who later looks up that same public page. We do not label the record with who requested it.
Requests to our service also include ordinary connection data that a web server receives, such as an IP address and the time of the request. We use that data to operate and secure the service. We do not use it to identify you or to link a stored analysis to you.
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment information. We do not offer social login. We do not set our own cookies. We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing history of pages where the popup does not run. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information about you. The text we process is the text of the website you asked us to analyze, which is usually a public legal page.
2. HOW DO WE USE INFORMATION?
We use information to:
- Show the popup and remember that you turned the Extension off or dismissed it on a site.
- Check whether we already have an analysis for a policy address.
- Generate, store, and reuse a plain-language analysis of that policy.
- Keep the service reliable and secure, and comply with law.
We do not use this information to advertise to you, to build a profile of you, or to associate a generated analysis with you.
3. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE INFORMATION?
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.
We use a service provider to host our analysis service: Google Cloud, in the United States (us-central1). That provider processes information on our behalf so the Extension can work.
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, or if we are involved in a merger, sale, or similar business transfer. If that happens, the recipient will still be bound by this notice for the information it covers.
The Extension reads legal pages on other websites so it can analyze them. Those sites are not part of our service. When a page loads in your browser, that site may receive the usual information a browser sends. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of the sites you visit.
4. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP INFORMATION?
Information stored only in the Extension remains until you clear it or uninstall the Extension.
On our servers, we keep the website text and the generated analysis for as long as we need them to provide the analysis for that page address. We delete or anonymize a record when we no longer need it for that purpose.
Because those records are not linked to you, we usually cannot tell which analyses, if any, were created from your use of the Extension. You can still ask us to delete the analysis stored for a specific website address.
5. IS INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?
Our servers are in the United States. If you use the Extension from another country, the page address, the policy text you ask us to analyze, and the resulting analysis may be processed in the United States.
6. HOW DO WE KEEP INFORMATION SAFE?
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
7. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM CHILDREN?
The Extension is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, contact us at andrey.novichkov@gmail.com and we will delete it.
8. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, California, Virginia, and other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, to object to or limit certain processing, and to appeal a refusal.
Because we do not associate stored website text or generated analyses with you, we may not be able to find a record that belongs to you. We will still honor a request we can fulfill, including a request to delete the analysis for a specific website address, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising. We do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. The Extension does not track you across sites for advertising.
To make a request, email andrey.novichkov@gmail.com. We may need to confirm that a request is about a specific website address, since we do not keep a user account to verify. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. DO WE UPDATE THIS NOTICE?
We may update this notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. If a change is material, we will post the updated notice where the Extension links to it.
